In our Zaatar (or Zaathar) blend, nothing superfluous, just the essentials: toasted sesame, sumac, oregano, and salt!
Use it to season your pizzas, grilled meat and fish, vegetables and salads and especially houmous (chickpea puree with sesame paste). Mixed with olive oil, it is also served as an aperitif with bread.
The term "Zaatar" originally means a variety of wild plant between thyme and oregano found in the Middle East and traditionally mixed with sumac and salt. Its leaves are small, light green in color and are characterized by pronounced peppery and acidic notes. Between pepper and salt, this mixture is traditionally used to flavor labne, hummus or pita bread with olive oil.
